TownShip Cooking Guide

If you chose the original carpenter towards the start at the game when you were constructing TownShip you'll be able to have his wife cook up some extremely powerful meals for you and your team. I go into detail about the best recipes in my TownShip guide but I don't list every recipe that I could find there. That's what this page is for!

When you're cooking there is about a 5 - 10% chance the meal will fail and instead of getting the item you wanted you'll get Charcoal. Also, there's a chance that your meals can 'crit' and it'll make double your recipe. This seems to only work on recipes where you were making 1 item to begin with. I've never seen the double GoldBar recipe crit, for example.

If you choose Hanz and Daiye to join your town you should be able to buy every single item you need from a vendor when it comes to cooking. Hanz sells Cond. Up and Medicates and Daiye sells any fish you may need. All the other items like F. Spice, Shave Ice, Frizbee you can purchase from the item shop in Guntz or other locations.

The item shop in Guntz (as seen in the screen shot above) paired with Hanz and Daiye should cover a majority of the items you're interested in making. Here is the long list of every recipe that I know of/could find in Breath of Fire 2.

Wise Ball: Stamina and 2 Tuna
Restores 100 AP.

Stamina: F.Spice and 2 Tuna
Permanently increases a character's Stamina by 1 point.

Dinker: 2 Cond. Up
Permanently increases a character's Agility by 1 point.

Gutsbl: 2 Shave Ice
Permanently increases a character's Guts by 1 point.

Luck Candy: F.Spice and Shave Ice
Permanently increases a character's Luck by 1 point.

Life Pl.: 4 Help Balls
Brings a character back to life with 100% HP.

Cond. Up: 2 Snpr and 2 Tuna
Ups your condition and luck.

Deadsoup: 4 Roasts
Casts Death on an enemy.

Extract: 4 Herbs
Fully restores one character's HP.

Frizbee: 2 Cure Al.
Casts Sonic Boom.

F. Spice: 2 W. Fruit and 1 Roast
Casts Flame on an enemy.

G8Bait: 2 Tuna
Bait used for Fishing. (some of the best)

Gold Bar: 3 Condition Up
Sell to a vendor for 6000Z.

Gold Bar x2: 3 Condition Up + 1 Tuna
Sell to a vendor for 12000Z.

Gutsbl: 2 Shave Ice
Permanently increases one character's Guts.

Helpbl: 2 Herb
Restores your HP by 100.

Herb: 2 Charcoal
Restores HP by 40.

Lifepl.: 4 Helpbl
Brings a dead party member back to life.

Medicate: Extract and 2 Roast
Casts Attack Up on one person.

Misosoup: 2 F. Spice
Permanently increases one character's Wisdom by 1 point.

Octopus: 2 Roasts + 2 Pilewrms
Casts Attack Up on the party.

Panpizza: 4 Spare Rib
Casts Pwr Down on the enemies.

Pwr. Food: 2 Medicate
Permanently increases a character's Strength by 1 point.

Shave Ice: 2 Extract and 2 Roast
Casts Freeze.

TearDr.: 2 Andt
Recovers you from Zombie.

Vtmn: 4 Andt
Protects against curses.

Those cover all the different recipes you can make in Breath of Fire 2! If you try your own combinations with the cook any combination that doesn't work will reward you with Charcoal. I recommend trying the same combination more than once though if you get Charcoal on your first try as it could have just been a failed attempt at cooking too!

Also an easier way of getting rid of your Charcoal is to just make Herbs from the cook. 2 Charcoal = 1 Herb. A lot better than the 0Z that they vendor for!
