Valheim - How To Keep Your Base Safe

Defeating The Queen will get you the Majestic Carapace item which allows you to make the Artisan Press upgrade at the Artisan Table. Once upgraded you'll be able to craft Ceramic Plates and Shield Cores, you'll want to make both for our adventure into the Ashlands. In order to reach the Ashlands you'll want to make a Drakkar ship, they can sail across the boiling waters without being damaged. The Shield Core is used to make a Shield Generator which is something we'll want to put down for our first base in the biome.

When you arrive in the Ashlands the first materials you'll often get are Ashwood and Grausten, both of these will unlock many crafting recipes. Keep an eye out for Putrid Holes while exploring because they will give you some Molten Cores, we can use these to make the Stone Portal. You'll unlock tons of recipes each time you pick up new loot from mob drops too.

Stone Portals don't have the same restrictions on them as normal Portals, you can take metal and other items through them. For those of you who weren't playing with that already enabled for regular portals... This is a game changer. Once you're ready to make your Stone Portal it'll be time to make a base here to protect the portal (and yourself). Check out my section below for some base ideas.

Flametal Ore is the next big pillar of progression for Ashlands, when you smelt this you'll unlock a bunch more recipes for this biome including the new armor sets and new crafting station upgrades. One of the new things you can make is the Battering Ram. This will let you smash through the doors/walls of the Charred Fortresses that you find throughout this biome.

Inside of the forts is the final set of progression items, 3 different gemstones. There's Bloodstone, Iolite and Jade--all of them have unique properties and can be infused with many of the Ashlands weapons to make something even more unique.
