Penguin Island & Syberia - Syberia 2 Walkthrough
You will find yourself on Penguin Island after the boat finally docks on land and you regain control of Kate. The first thing you will want to do on Penguin Island is grab the Narwhal Tusk which is a little bit inland surrounded by a cluster of bones (pictured above). Use this Narwhal Tusk on the mammoth bone anchor which you can find on a screen to the left of the Narwhal Tusk near some penguins.
After you move the anchor you can continue south to another screen with a massive line of penguins on it. This screen is an intersection; run towards the screen but in the upper left portion where the penguins are. If you do it right you should find yourself at a small area with some penguin nests that contain eggs.
Inspect the nest of penguin eggs and place the Russian Doll into it to trigger a scene with Kate calling over some penguins. We need to go to where these penguins were just at and use the Narwhal Tusk a second time on the cracked ice at this location. Both of these locations are marked in my screen shot above. Using the Narwhal Tusk on the cracked ice will trigger a cutscene after which you'll be back on our boat.
Back on the boat we have a couple of tasks to do that I will put into list format:
1. Move the barrel away from the door then go through
2. Climb the ladder in the center of the room next to Hans
3. Take the Ivory Hook that you find on the ground
4. Return to the first room and climb ontop of the barrel
5. Attach the Ivory Hook to the post above you
6. Click on the rope next to the post to attach it to the Ivory Hook
7. Pull the lever next to the barrel
Once you pull the lever there will be a cutscene after which the boat will depart and you will regain control of Kate in a new location. Hans will walk off to the left, we'll be following him shortly -- first you'll want to go to the right one screen and up a ladder. Investigate the Youkol corpse that is here, specifically search around the neck area to pick up the Youkol Medallion.
Now that you have the medallion you can continue in the same direction as Hans. There are a couple more items we will need to pick up before we're able to do anything here... In my opinion the hardest of these to find is the Syberia Flower and the Stone Plate that's next to it. I've included a picture of this location below.
You will find this flower on the path that leads to the gate Hans is waiting for you at. The other items you need to collect are 3 more Stone Plates all of which can be found ontop of a wooden box on the pier to the south of where we found the Syberia Flower. Once you have all of the items you need head over to Hans at the nearby gate and talk with him.
Pull the lever next to Hans and you'll lower a hamster wheel of sorts - the same sort of device that was on the Gangcar earlier in the game. Return to the boat and search for Youki in the hold, give Youki the Syberia Flower to wake him up then return to the gate with Hans. Youki will follow you to the gate then jump into the hamster wheel and open the gate for you.
Follow Hans through the gate and speak with him to learn what we have to do next, summon the mammoths! In order to summon the mammoths we'll first have to complete 3 different puzzles. The first puzzle is a stone circle on the ground below some sort of contraption to the right of Hans (pictured below).
The Stone Circle that you can use to summon Mammoths
Grab the Stone Plate in the upper left when you inspect this stone circle. There are going to be 5 Stone Plates that are missing from this circle and we're going to have to replace them. In order to solve this puzzle the "correct" way you need to look at the Youkol Medallion, specifically the white symbols on it. You can use the white symbols to predict what comes next in the pattern.
Below I have included a screen shot of how to solve this Stone Circle puzzle. Instead of showing you what it looks like when it's finished and letting you figure out what goes where I have used screen shots of the Stone Plate items in your inventory and put them overtop the Stone Circle picture. This should make it easier for you.
When you have successfully completed the puzzle use the bone wheel/crank on the machine above the stone circle. Sand will spill out onto the upside down Y symbol and an Ivory Key will be left in the center of the stone puzzle. The reason I am noting the symbol the sand falls on is because it's used in the next part.
Head over to the other side of Hans and you'll find another contraption with 2 more puzzles. One of the puzzles is on the mammoth bone horns on the side of the machine, this one is easy to find. The one we need right now though is found to the left of the crank/wheel on the front of the machine. It's essentially the side panel of the box that this wheel is connected to.
Place the Ivory Key into the bottom clover symbol on the side panel to open it up. Once it is open move the Ivory Key into the same box that's shown in my screen shot below. After you do this you can click on the crank at the front of the machine to turn it on. It'll create a low pitch humming noise.
The reason that upside down Y symbol earlier was important is because if you look at the Youkol Medallion both of these symbols are together. That's basically how you solve these last 2 puzzles, by referencing that medallion. Our last puzzle of the game is messing with the pipe portion of this machine.
For this one you have to tweak each of the hole openings on the pipe until they are a certain size. The setup you should use for each of the 2 rows is listed below. If you'd like visual aid instead of the written word use my screen shot further down this page.
Row #1: Open, Half closed and Open
Row #2: Half closed, Closed and Open
Once you've solved this puzzle pull either one of the 2 levers below the holes to activate this part of the machine. If you did it right there will be a cutscene which is the final cutscene of the game.
