Moon Quay Farming - Don't Starve Together Guides
In this guide I am going to give you the best strategy I know of to farm the Unnatural Portal on Pirate Island aka Moon Quay. The first thing that you need to do is section off all of the monkeys that you can or destroy their houses. I don't recommend you destroy their houses because then you won't be able to rebuild them. The best alternative is to build stone or wood fences around them to keep them in a pen.
You should also build a pen next to the portal because occasionally the portal will spit out a Powder Monkey and it will gather some stuff on the ground then it will get stuck on the wall. Like most monsters in this game, they have rather basic pathing and they will often try to gather something on the otherside of a wall which will cause them to endlessly run into it.
This is going to be our method of farming the island. You just have to be in the area so that the portal is loaded on your world and spitting out items. Monkeys will get stuck on the wall and you can kill them periodically to collect the loot they have gathered too. The longer you stay in the area, the more loot you will be able to collect.
Unnatural Portal Loot: Twigs, Cut Grass, Rocks, Banana Bush, Monkeytails, Palmcone Sprout, Powder Monkey, Crustashine
Note: The Unnatural Portal will only spawn about one day's worth of loot before it stops. Once enough items are on the ground (or in a monkey's inventory) it will stop spitting out new items. You can fix this by picking up the loot on the ground or eliminating the nearby monkeys and looting what they drop.
You don't have to do invulnerable walls, normal ones will work fine (learn from my mistakes)
Some things that you can do to keep yourself in the area longer is bring your resources here that you plan to cook up in Crock Pots. Also, you'll have to bring some Crock Pots here too. You can do your cooking and then bundle it to send it back home. For this method to truly work I would recommend the Sign Post Fast Travel Addon which gives you a way to quickly travel back and forth across the world at the cost of Hunger and Sanity.
You could also make a Stone Fruit Farm at this location or a Bull Kelp Farm (or both!) which would give you plenty of reason to be in this area for an extended period of time. A few more options are the Lure Plant Boat Farm (may cause sea-monkeys to attack you) and Wickerbottom Fish Farm.
The last thing I will talk about is the Accursed Trinkets that drop from the monkeys. These items drop from each monkey and will stack in your inventory. Once you get 10 of them you'll turn into a monkey yourself and you will lose your special abilities. To remove one of these trinkets from your inventory you will need to give Bananas to the Queen of Moon Quay.
Other Tips & Tricks
- If you give the Queen of Moon Quay Bananas and you don't have any Accursed Trinkets in your inventory, she will give you Blueprints.
