Moose Goose Farms - Don't Starve Together Guides

Moose Goose Spawn Location

Moose Goose is the Spring boss in DST that has a chance to spawn on any Moose Goose Nest tiles which are located on your world. The only requirements to spawn Moose Goose are 3 base structures built in close proximity and you must wait until at least 2 - 4 days have passed into Spring. 3 base structures next to each other basically means build a few things in the world at any location.

Assuming that you've fulfilled these requirements you will see Moose Goose fall out of the sky and onto a Moose Goose Nest when you are nearby shortly into Spring. If there are multiple Moose Goose Nests in one area then you will trigger multiple Moose Goose spawns - this is something you should keep in mind because fighting multiple Moose Goose at once will be quite the challenge.

If you leave Moose Goose alone for 1 day it will spawn a Moose Goose Egg which will eventually hatch into 5 Moslings. You can break the Moose Goose Egg with a Hammer too if you're being impatient and want them to spawn now. Moslings will remain neutral unless Moose Goose is killed then they'll become hostile and attack you.

Note: Sometimes this happens in reverse, a Moose Goose Egg will appear at one of the nesting sites and if you disturb it or any of the Moslings you'll summon the Moose Goose. I am not sure what causes the events to happen in reverse like this but keep it in mind.

Moose Goose Tooth Trap

When it comes to killing a Moose Goose you have a few different methods but the one that I normally do is the Hound Tooth Trap method. The method that works best for you will depend on how often you want to farm Moose Goose for Down Feathers. If you plan to kill Toadstool a lot then you're going to need a lot of Weather Pains - which means you'll need a lot of Down Feathers.

I believe that the Hound Tooth Trap method works best if you need to continually farm Moose Goose each time she spawns. Using the Hound Tooth Traps means you don't need armor, weapons or really any resources at all except time to kill Moose Goose. The alternative method that can work too is using Winona's Catapults. You'll have to tank Moose Goose a bit more for this method though and you'll also need Gems or Nitre to fuel the Catapults.

Moose Goose has a total of 6000 HP which means you'll need at minimum 100 traps to kill him. Each trap deals 60 damage in total before it needs to be reset and each trap has a total of 10 uses. Keep in mind that Moose Goose comes with Moslings which you'll have to kill after you take care of Moose Goose. Also, frogs will come out of the Moose Goose pond and can set off your traps if they're too close to the pond (which they should be).

The point I am trying to make is you should set up more than 100 traps to kill a single Moose Goose. As you can see from my screenshot above I have well over 100 traps and this is done purposefully because there are numerous Moose Goose Nests in the area I built these traps. Normally I end up killing two or three Moose Goose each time I come to this area to farm them; despite killing 3 Moose Goose per Spring it still takes a long time to get enough Down Feathers for a Toadstool kill.

One thing to mention about my Moose Goose Traps in the screenshot above is that you may notice I have to pull Moose Goose over to these traps to kill it. I built these traps near one nest but the other nests are far enough away that I have to 'baby' Moose Goose and lead him over the traps. An alternative to this is a more automated Moose Goose farm which is what I have setup in the screenshot below.

Everyone is different and you may prefer the farm shown in my screenshot above more. This farm has traps placed entirely around the Moose Goose Nest which means the moment she lands and starts walking around she's going to be taking damage until she dies. I personally prefer this method when I am dealing with a single Moose Goose since it takes pretty much no effort on my part. All I have to do is be within spawn range to make Moose Goose spawn and she'll basically get herself killed by walking back and forth.

The reason this trap/location is setup differently is because these traps are placed around structures I built. The Moose Goose spawn you see above is very close to my Portal Base which I don't like so I setup an automated Moose Goose death trap to deal with her each year when/if she spawns here. As you can imagine this trap works to get me some Down Feathers and also eliminates the Moose Goose threat to my structures.

Other Tips & Tricks

- If you lack Tooth Traps you could do a Varg Farm to get more teeth! Or, you could supplement with Catapults to deal extra damage to the Moose Goose as you kite him through the Tooth Traps you do have placed. You could also tank and spank Moose Goose the traditional way (but who wants to do that!?!)
