Bee Queen Farming Methods - Don't Starve Together Guides
Bee Queen is one of the first bosses that you should get on farm as quickly as possible. She gives you a few things of extreme importance, the main one is the Bundling Wrap Blueprint which allows you to wrap food and store it at full freshness. You only need to collect this Blueprint once to learn it and make the recipe though.
She also drops Honeycombs which make her the only real replenishable source of them in the game. Bee Queen Crown drops from her too which is almost a requirement for the Fuelweaver fight - it has other uses as well. Last but not least she drops Royal Jelly which you can turn into Jellybeans in the Crockpot. Jellybeans are one of the more powerful HoT effects in the game and it will make difficult fights a lot easier!
All 3 of the aforementioned items are why you will want to get Bee Queen on farm as early as possible. Her Crown can be used like a Football Helmet, Jellybeans help for almost all boss fights and Honeycombs make more Bundling Wrap and a Honey Farm which is another important farm to get up and running.
When it comes to farming Bee Queen I like to setup as low effort a farm as possible. The strategy I like to use is the Bunny Method which is to essentially create 35 - 45 Rabbit Hutches in the area around Bee Queen. I like to put down Cobblestone in this entire area too because it makes it easier for you to avoid the Grumble Bees.
You should also make a fire in this area and place a few chests for supplies. I recommend only doing a normal Fire Pit, killing Bee Queen in Summer will be difficult because rabbits only come out during the Evening and Night and both of these are shorter during the Summer. For this reason you probably only need a Fire Pit here.
As far as supplies go, I recommend you have a Hammer nearby incase you forget to bring one as well as some items to stoke the fire and Beekeeper Hats. When you wear a Beekeeper Hat it will reduce the damage you take from bees by 80% - about the same as every other helm in the game. The added bonus of using this specific helmet is that it has significantly more durability than a Football Helmet or something similar.
It's possible to give Beekeeper Hats to your rabbits too and they will wear them! You can actually use this strategy to significantly reduce how many total rabbits you'll need for this farming method... The downside is you will eat through Beekeeper Hats fast if you rely on them to kill Bee Queen. I strongly recommend you only use hats once or twice then focus on sheer numbers to take out the Bee Queen.
That's really all there is to it, depending on how many bunnies you have the time it takes to kill the Bee Queen will vary. Bunnies tear her up during the first two phases but once she starts screeching a lot their DPS slows down significantly. Having a lot of bunnies is very important because they need to kill Bee Queen before daylight - otherwise most of them will return home and that will likely prevent you from killing Bee Queen.
Earlier I said I recommend 35 Rabbit Hutches at minimum and it's for this reason. Normally when you have 35 hutches it's about a 5 minute fight with Bee Queen - depending on your luck. During the final phases bunnies have a random chance of agroing Bee Queen or the Grumble Bees and the more they agro the Grumble Bees the more the fight drags on. More bunnies means less reliance on luck and more overall damage is being dealt.
For this reason I typically like to keep adding Rabbit Hutches until I have anywhere from 45 - 50. It all depends on how often I want to farm Bee Queen really, if I want to take her out even during the Summer months when evening and night is shorter then I need more than 35 bunnies. Alternatively, if I just want the fight to go as fast as possible either way - you want more than 35 as well.
Other Tips & Tricks
- Webber, Wurt and some other characters are hostile to bunnies which means they will have to come up with a different strategy or switch characters when they want to kill Bee Queen.
- I strongly recommend putting down Cobblestone throughout the area to make it easier to avoid the Grumble Bees and Bee Queen.
