Don't Starve Together Guides and Walkthroughs

Deerclops is the Winter seasonal boss of Don't Starve Together and typically will spawn every Winter unless you are in the caves or defeat Deerclops towards the end of Winter the previous year. When Deerclops is about to spawn you will hear a deep moaning sound for about a minute prior to him appearing, your charcter will comment on this noise too.

When Deerclops spawns he will typically target the nearest structure to your character. Almost all structures (including walls) will be destroyed in a single hit by this boss. For this reason it's typically best if you make sure he spawns away from your base and you fight him away from your base.

For most players, Deerclops will be the first real barrier you face in this game. Unless you defeat Deerclops your base will likely get destroyed since Deerclops not only can destroy buildings but he specifically targets them when a player isn't fighting him. This means that running away from Deerclops when he spawns isn't the best solution.

You can also get valuable items from Deerclops like the Deerclops Eyeball which can be used to craft the Eyebrella item, a very important item for Spring. I recommend you fight him not only for this reason but also because you'll need to learn how to beat bosses like Deerclops if you plan on beating this game. Deerclops is actually a very easy boss once you understand his mechanics and how the fight is supposed to go.

The best strategy for Deerclops is to drag him into other enemies and let them eliminate him. Ideally you'll want to avoid having enemies that will eat his loot defeat him - like Spiders and Pigs. However, survival is most important so if all you have is some Spiders to drag him to... that'll do just fine.

My favorite strategy for dealing with Deerclops is to drag him through a nearby forest. He will destroy trees as he walks through the forest which will get you Logs and it'll also eventually spawn a Treeguard (or multiple). One or two Treeguards is all you need to defeat Deerclops.

Aside from using enemies to help you defeat Deerclops you can also use Winona's Catapult Method or simply tank and spank Deerclops by dodging his hits.
