Arathi Basin Guide
Arathi Basin is a fast and exciting battleground. (NOT) The Basin itself is rich with resources and coveted by both Horde and Alliance. The Forsaken Defilers and the League of Arathor have arrived at Arathi Basin to wage war over these natural resources and claim them on behalf of their respective sides.
General Information
- Both sides of up to 15 players each compete to occupy the five resource nodes spread throughout Arathi Basin
- Each claimed node generates resources for the owning team. The more nodes your team controls, the quicker you gain natural resources. The first team that gains 1,600 resources wins.
- Both the winning and losing team earn honor after completing and Arathi Basin Battleground, as accumulated resources translate directly into bonus honor for players. Even if you don't win the Battleground, you walk away with honor.
- As players compete, they will improve their reputation with the Defilers or League of Arathor, thereby earning many new and not so powerful anymore rewards.
- There are five Resource Nodes on the map: Farm, Stables (ST), Blacksmith (BS), Lumber Mill (LM) and Gold Mine (GM).
- The minimum level to join this battleground is 20, and is separated into different brackets of 20-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80.
- Along with the major city entrances, Horde join this battleground from Hammerfall and Alliance from Refuge Point.
Strategies
Assaulting Bases
- Zerging: Zerging is the art of winning, or capturing a objective by using Numbers, over Strategy and Coordination. An example of this would be having 8 people attack 3 people. This is an extremely affective method, but also extremely risky and i don't recommend using it often.
- Ninjaing: This is the method with the lowest success rate of them all. What you do for this is usually have one person (Rogue or a Druid works best) go to a base that is lightly defended or not defended at all and cap it. This will cause one of two things to happen... People will freak, and come to overly defend it (usually 4 or more people) or you will gain the base and no one will care.
- Strategy & Coordination: Dare i say it? Actually listening to someone (usually anyone) will generally win you the battleground. The most basic strategy that anyone (Even a super super duper retard) can follow without vent is to keep 2 guards at each base and cap 3. Have the remaining 9 people run around to each base defending it. This is the most well known, easiest to follow Arathi Basin Strategy there is.
Defending Bases
- Call out incomings.
- When there is a red ring going around the flag, and there is a player from the opposing faction standing there, its being captured.
- Always wait around after capturing the node to make sure it becomes under your control. (You only have to wait at the node for 51 seconds, then you can leave. The flag will change from neutral to your side, which interrupts the cap worse comes to worse).
Easy Strategies
"The Tripod" - "3/3/3" - Group 1 Head to Lumber Mill, Group 2 Gold Mine and Group 3 Waterwalk to Blacksmith. Have one person from Group 2 go to the Stables or Farm (Ally Stables, Horde Farm) and cap it and defend it. Protect these 3 bases throughout the game, Usually have 3 people stand at each base and the remaining defend which ever is being attacked.
"The Best Defense is a Good Offense" - Group 1 Head to Lumber Mill, Group 2 Gold Mine and Group 3 Waterwalk to Blacksmith. Have one person from Group 2 go to the Stables or Farm (Ally Stables, Horde Farm) and cap it and defend it. Leave one person at each base to call out Inc's and to hold it off long enough for help to arrive. Have the other 4 at each base head to Farm or Stables (Horde Stables, Ally Farm) and cap it.
"Organized" - Two people (Healer and DPS, preferablly good at working together) Head to Farm or Stables (Ally Farm, Horde Stables). 4 To Gold Mine, 4 to Lumber Mill, 4 To Blacksmith 1 to Stables or Farm (Ally Stables, Horde Farm).
"The Lone Ranger" - Group 1 Head to Lumber Mill, Group 2 Gold Mine and Group 3 Waterwalk to Blacksmith. Have one person from Group 2 go to the Stables or Farm (Ally Stables, Horde Farm) and cap it and defend it. One person who knows what he's doing (Pref a stealth class) head to each of the bases the horde or alliance controls and try to ninja them.
