Everquest Research Materials

Much like the Cultural Items of Everquest there are also Spell Research Materials that drop from all different types of mobs in hundreds of different zones of all different levels. This page here is going to give you a run down of these items and tell you a little bit about them. I won't go into massive detail about what spells each of the materials make but I will go through the usual prices of each of the items.

I highly recommend you sell all of the Spell Research materials in The Bazaar as they sell for quite a bit of plat since many players are always looking to raise their research skills. I honestly can't recommend you use them yourself as I have no experience in that area. To make this guide easier to use for everyone I have broken these Research Materials down into level brackets. Depending on what level mobs you are killing will determine what types of the materials you will find. Of course there are some places that will drop a broader range of materials than others but that's for you to figure out on your own based on where you are!

I also am going to try to put the most accurate price possible next to each of the materials, hopefully to help players figure out what prices they should use when listing them in The Bazaar incase there are none up on your server. However all servers have different economies and my server (Fironia Vie) is said to have a wacky economy so don't take these as a set in stone price, just use them as a rough guide.

The giant list below will give you a complete breakdown of all the Research Materials you can find in EQ. I have them seperated into two different catagories, allowing you to sort them in two unique ways. The first way is sorted by different level brackets that you will find them in (going up by 5 to 10 levels at a time). The second way is sorted by the name of the item itself. For example "Vellum" "Dirty" "Fine" and "Cruddy" etc etc will all have their own catagories.

You will find the item's Recommended level shown right next to it and just below the item I will give you the round about price that I normally always see it up for in The Bazaar. Keep in mind I have played on 6 different servers so I am using the information I have compiled from each of them to give you the most accurate average price.

Also it is very important that you keep in mind if you do not have a Gold Membership then you will be unable to run a Trader which means you will be unable to sell these items in The Bazaar. If this is the case I still strongly recommend you put them in your bank or hold onto them in anyway possible for when you do upgrade to a Gold Membership.

Spell Research Materials Levels 1 - 50

This section will go over all of the Spell Research Materials that you will find for levels 1 - 50. Most of the earlier level pelts under level 30 you will just want to destroy because they sell for less than even a plat in The Bazaar. Starting at Raw Runic Hides or maybe sometimes Raw Fine Hides I would start holding onto these items to sell. Note that below 50 all you're going to find are hides, the other parchments and such don't come in until later.

Spell Research Materials Levels 50 - 60

This is the first "real" bracket of Spell Research Materials if you will. By real I mean the first bracket of them that you will always want to hold onto to sell in The Bazaar. Some will try and argue that with all of the spells being added to PoK for levels 1 - 85 when EQ went Free to Play these lower level Spell Research materials are now useless but they just don't know what they're talking about. These research materials will always in demand because people are always going to be raising Spell Research either for higher level spells or just for the Achievement in the game.

In fact when EQ went Free to Play I didn't even notice a change in the prices for these items.

Spell Research Materials Levels 60 - 70

Some of the Research Materials in this range can push upwards of a hundred or so plat depending on what server you play on. Even if they're not going for a couple hundred plat each you can still be sure you're going to get 45pp or more for each one of them. Of course some don't go for at least 45pp but then again some go for more than 45pp; it all evens out in the end!

Spell Research Materials 70 - 80

This level range of Spell Research materials sells much better than all the rest in The Bazaar. Usually each one of these can net you over a hundred plat each which adds up fast considering you find about one on every single humanoid monster you kill above the level of 75. Definitely hold onto all of these that you come across as they will sell in The Bazaar for a good amount of money and quickly sell too. Even if you're a Free to Play player still hold onto these for when you become a Gold Member. Then sell them.
